Mariner Award by Krystle Morgan

The team at Hartzell Eye Specialists is proud to share that Dr. Hartzell and his staff were honored with the 2018 “Mariner Award” from Safe Harbour, a non-profit group that has provided housing and resources for homeless and nearly homeless families in the Carlisle area since 1986. The award was presented to Hartzell Eye Specialists at Safe Harbour’s yearly Harbour Master ceremony on October 18^th, 2018.

Safe Harbour’s goal is not only to provide shelter for those in need, but also to assist them building new life skills and to aid them on their journey to independence. They provide emergency shelter as well as extended housing for qualifying individuals.  A vital source of funding for Safe Harbour is donations from individuals, churches, and organizations.

Hartzell Eye Specialists believes in supporting our community through great medical care as well as charitable service. Dr. Hartzell has succeeded in raising thousands in donations for not only Safe Harbour, but also Carlisle Cares, through his “A Force for Change” events. Guest who attend these events are able to take photos with costumed Star Wars characters on the red carpet, win raffle prizes, and enjoy the newest Star Wars film before it’s officially released. Tickets are obtained by making donations which are distributed to Safe Harbour and Carlisle Cares. Dr. Hartzell and his staff enjoy donating their time by serving hot meals to Safe Harbour’s residents throughout the year.

As we transition into the holiday season, we look forward to continuing to work with our community in supporting Safe Harbour in their mission to fight homelessness.
